Is Hydrocodone the Drug For You?

Have you heard of something known as the invisible illness? Pain is often characterized as an invisible illness as others cannot see it, but one who experiences pain knows how difficult it is to live with it. People in pain may look ‘fine’ but may not be fine. Pain is a signal to tell you that something is wrong. Pain can be an unpleasant feeling. It is experienced in form of a tingle, a burn, or an ache.

Hydrocodone

Pain can be sharp, sudden or dull, and constant. Broadly it can be classified into acute pain and chronic pain. Acute pain is sudden as it is mostly due to an injury, inflammation, or a disease. It tends to get better with time and can be treated. Sometimes if left undiagnosed acute pain can turn into chronic pain. Chronic pain is long-lasting and can lead to severe problems. There are several ways to treat pain. Treatment is subject to the type and the basic cause of pain. There are drug treatments, including pain relievers like NSAIDs and opiate (narcotic) analgesics. Some non-drug treatments include acupuncture, physical therapy, and sometimes surgery. Hydrocodone is one such drug that is beneficial in the treatment of severe pain.

Let us understand Hydrocodone

Hydrocodone is used to relieve severe pain. Hydrocodone is specifically used to treat people who require medication to relieve severe pain around-the-clock, and for those patients who are not responding to other treatments or medicines. It is not recommended for patients with mild pain or who can manage their pain with other medicines and drugs. Hydrocodone is an opiate and belongs to the opiate (narcotic) analgesics class of medicines. It works on the Central Nervous system. It works by altering the mode by which the brain and nervous system respond to pain.
