The Dengue IgG test is a blood test that detects the presence of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies specific to the dengue virus in the bloodstream. Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection that can cause flu-like symptoms and, in severe cases, lead to dengue hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome. This test is primarily used to determine if an individual has been previously exposed to the dengue virus. The body produces IgG antibodies as part of the immune response to the infection. Detecting IgG antibodies indicates a past infection or prior exposure to the dengue virus.
