Men Have Higher Rates of Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes Mellitus than Women in Maharashtra

A survey conducted by Indus Health Plus on diabetes mellitus (DM) and pre-diabetes mellitus from January 2021 to September 2021 found that men in Maharashtra had higher levels of DM than women.

Amol Naikawadi, JMD & preventive healthcare specialist, Indus Health Plus said, “Diabetes has become prevalent in Maharashtra, especially in males. The Covid-19 pandemic altered many facets of life. Regular health checkups and consultation also got impacted which has resulted in the increased number of pre-diabetes mellitus among people. People have been confined to their homes leading to sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical activity. Early diagnosis can help people in taking necessary measures. Diabetes is showing a rising trend across all age groups and hence, changes in lifestyle, regular exercise, and getting preventive health checkups at regular intervals will help reducing the burden of this epidemic disease.” News Covers In Pharmabiz.
